Chapman Community Chapel began when eight men pooled their money and purchased the building that once housed the Hoffer Community Church, in rural Port Trevorton, from a neighbor. They did some remodeling work and the first service was held May 28, 1950, with twenty-five people in attendance. The church continued at that location for fifty-eight years. In late 2008, the church moved to its present location at the south end of the town of Port Trevorton, in the former Chapman-Union Elementary school building. That building had been partially remodeled and was ready for use. After moving there, they finished remodeling the building that presently houses them.
