Admit that you are a sinner. Sin is anything that we say, think, or do that is against God and His Word.  The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." This sin, that we have in us, separates us from God and will keep us out of heaven.

Believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sin.  Believe that Jesus did not remain dead, but rose bodily from the grave, offering eternal life in heaven with Him to all who believe. John 3:16 tells us, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

C

Confess.  This step has two small steps within it.  First, confess to God that you know that you are a sinner in need of a Savior.  You do that by praying and telling God that you have sinned and that you believe that Jesus has died to pay for your sins.  The second step is to confess that you have trusted Jesus by telling someone else. Then tell everyone you meet what Jesus has done for you, and let them know He wants to do the same for them.
